Name: Patricia Alany Country: Uganda Track: civic leadership I am the coordinator of female journalists in Sub region of Northern Uganda under Lango Women in Media Association(LAWMEDA). An initiative which sees female broadcasters come together and collectively address issues affecting them in the male dominated media industry in Northern Uganda. I am currently working with 94.3 QFM Lira as a broadcaster/news anchor. In 2019, I was awarded best female employee of the year. I am also currently working as a volunteer trainer with Junior Achievement Uganda for the social equity programme in the Northern region. Having worked as an ICT assistant in one of the biggest Hospitals in Northern and North Eastern Uganda, I initiated a drive which sees female journalists train in basic computer to enhance their competitiveness in the digital age . I have been a co-manager for Miss Uganda North 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 Miss Petronella Acen. It has given me the opportunity to interact with different people at different levels and chatted ways of creating awareness on the importance of letting a girl child exploit her potentials and as well respecting the societal norms and the rights of others in the community.
